La Caldera Centre de Creació de Dansa

La Poderosa Espai per la Dansa i els seus Contaminants

c  a  m  p  a  r

is the verb and the action: to walk with freedom and independence, to explore error, to follow intuition, to be surprised in the doing

campo

is the noun and the place: arable land, the playing space, a set of ideas, practices, and knowledge

c a m p a r campo is a regular, independent and vibrant training program, focused on the generation and transmission of knowledge in dance and performing arts, where the body is both focus and framework for action and reflection.

A context to mobilize collective study, artistic practices and methodologies, the accompaniment of research and creation processes, driven by collaborative principles of action and listening.

A platform to support research in different formats and share its knowledge, which each year invites an artist or curator to affect and conceive the program together with a faculty composed of artists linked to La Caldera and La Poderosa, along with other artists and professionals proposed by the curator.

Both La Caldera and La Poderosa consider that the vitality, renewal capacity, maturity and depth of the creative ecosystem depend on the exchange of information and experiences among its agents. Spaces of crossing, with the possible collisions and symbioses that arise from them, are the indispensable nourishment for the emergence of new artistic forms and languages: to animate, to cultivate and to reforest fields of experimentation, learning, encounter and de-formation. To enliven ways of roaming, of acting with responsibility and autonomy out of necessity, restlessness and urgency in the very heart of the art system, in connection with the tensions of the world and with the artistic task of questioning and remaining sensitively in the question.

This has been the starting point to collaboratively approach the conceptualization and design of an advanced training program in research and creation in dance and performing arts that, in 2025, opens its call with a view to its first edition in 2026: a permanent prototype of a knowledge transmission program that places research, creation, critical attention and the articulation of creative and imaginative communities at the center, in friction with artistic practices from the individual to the collective and back. A program that resists the tendency to turn the artist into an instrument of content production, stripping art of the micropolitical power of creation. And which, instead, proposes situations, relationships and spaces together with other artists, thinkers and audiences, deep processes of experimentation in contact with life and its tensions.

c a m p a r campo is an initiative of La Caldera Dance Creation Center and La Poderosa Space for Dance and its Contaminants, in collaboration with other allied spaces, programs and activities in Barcelona and Catalonia: art factories and creation centers, festivals, museums, universities and independent projects. Addressed to artists linked to dance and performing arts: creators, curators, thinkers, movers, researchers, choreographers, students, as well as professionals from other fields who place the body at the center of their processes.

C A M P A R CAMPO 2026 / AMADOR ALINA FOLINI

The invitation to curate and co-create the first edition of c a m p a r campo is a vibrant and vital event along my path as an artist committed to creating contexts of encounter, connecting practice, creation, and research in the performing arts, from situated knowledges. This coexists, at the same time, with the awareness that we are transiting the end of a world as we know it—a radical human-planetary transition that unsettles what we recognize, as well as the fictions of separability.

Thus—in a movement of transformation toward a future we cannot see—the mission of imagining and materializing an artistic program that seeks to affect bodies, dances, and their public dimensions, while also serving as a platform for creation and research, may perhaps appear in opaque gestures, in the haptic, in temporalities that are not linear.

Through a series of dialogues and approximations, we compose this program as if we needed to create an amulet, cast a counter-spell, or invent a form of magnetism that can call forgotten, hidden, lost, invisible knowledges—those that may accompany us and, perhaps, prepare us for transformation.

We materialize a program of research and creation as a strategy to revisit how we learn, and also, to collectively practice and imagine embodied, sensorial, artistic, and political experiences that question what lies outside the colonial narratives of the modern subject and their violences of separation.

We bring together a constellation of artists and their counter-narratives: practices of visceral engagement, visionary fabulation, Black fugitivity, eco-trans-feminisms; practices of communal dreaming, monstrosity, orality, diasporic memory and archiving, among others—so they may accompany our questions like a talisman in times of uncertainty. We call upon those who wish to join: creations and researches from ancestral choreographers, choreographers of the future, programmers, theaters, audiences—existing alongside a human-planetary transition. Dances and tools that invite us to co-sense, to remember, to hallucinate other fictions interwoven in bodies.

To unlearn, to listen, to experiment, to discuss, to persist in making—and perhaps also, to be dreamt by transformation.

How might dance and its practices become a field for reconnection, to take back, for fabulation, experimentation, and the practice of situated embodied knowledges that persist through their own vulnerability?

We propose three modes of attention that interweave throughout the program:

  • bodies: we will study the fictions of bodies outside themselves. Fabulated bodies. Fugitive bodies. Visceral bodies. Bodies between the living and the dead. Eco-sexual bodies. Sonic bodies. Monstrosities.

  • artistic and choreographic practices: we will experiment with ways of creating and researching, that make contact with questions. Strategies, devices, references, writings, archives, ways of inviting and publishing, where it is possible to state, transmit or translate what touches us, into shared experiences.

  • public gestures: composed of a series of public actions, visits, discussions, process openings, fanzine publication, we place ourselves in a collective present where it is necessary to open opportunities to listen, co-feel and converse starting from performative practices and their hybridizations. To study, create and practice from the perspective of “what we do with other people,” that is, a form of sociability not based on individuality, but which can be an opportunity to be digested, incorporated by others.

Thus arises this first edition of c a m p a r campo, dedicated to activities of transmission, practice and co-creation among participants, guide-artists and audiences, committed to narratives of transformation for the live arts, from perspectives situated in the South. It proposes a specific time where the continuous practice and artistic work of each participant can be accompanied, focused, deepened, as well as affected by collective studies and their consequences. To place creators in a position of responsibility for themselves, for art and for their community. To build alliances and contexts where to listen, de-inflame, stir and magnetize vital forces, to promote other metabolisms and counter-narratives for dances.

A group of participants—conformed through an international open call between September and October 2025—will embark on a nine-month journey of research, creation, and dialogue, in a carefully tended and stimulating working environment such as La Caldera, La Poderosa, Fabra i Coats, nyamnyam, Fondo, and Museu Tàpies, among others, in Barcelona and Catalonia. From March to November 2026, they will move through guided lab encounters, individual-collective workspaces, mentoring and feedback sessions, visits to artists and cultural programs in the city, as well as public openings of their own research in different formats and moments throughout the year.

To curate this program, for me, is to co-sense the marks that compose us and to dream a way out of colonial normality. Between vulnerability and joy. Between mourning and transformation. Between study and fabulation. To keep insisting on the questions, the strategies, and the tools that allow us to commit to a violent present, yet one also filled with tenderness and life-force.

nyamnyamAriadna Rodriguez and Iñaki Alvarez are nyamnyam. By combining their formations and deformations across various disciplines, their work aims to promote creation, diffraction, and the exchange of knowledge through interaction strategies in each (g)local context in which they work. In this intersection of live arts, visual arts, critical thinking, and pedagogies, the work of nyamnyam moves between the creation of projects and curating, understood as a transdisciplinary space for relationships and disruption, in friction with the standardized vision of the commercialization of culture. They have developed various theatrical pieces presented at international festivals, such as the Les Urbainnes Festival in Lausanne, Switzerland; the Radical Hospitality Festival at Blackbox Teater in Oslo, Norway; the MIR Festival in Athens, Greece; the Danza en la Ciudad Festival in Bogotá, Colombia; the SALIVA cycle at CentroCentro, Madrid; the Short Theater Festival in Rome, Italy; or the ZOOM IN! Festival at the Duncan Dance Research Center in Athens, Greece, among others. They have carried out and shared their projects in Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Switzerland, Norway, Greece, the United States, Mexico, Colombia, and Ecuador. After eight years of activity in their Barcelona space, in 2020 they opened the doors to Espai nyamnyam in the small town of Mieres (Girona), a cultural cooperative focused on contemporary artistic practice within the orbit of degrowth. Their projects have received support from Acción Cultural Española (AC/E) through its program for the Internationalization of Spanish Culture (PICE), the Generalitat de Catalunya (ICEC and OSIC), Creative Europe (European Union), as well as the Ramon Llull Institute (Catalonia).
Raoni/Muzho Saleh

Raoni/Muzho Saleh is a Hazara Afghan artist using performance, installation and the sound of mourning moaning to twist and reshape narratives of (cultural) becoming. His work’s focus is to play with fugitivity, by not stiffening into a graspable form. Engaging the entanglement of body, spirit, politics and love within art through the use of materials such as movement, voice, text and textile, his works are temporary immersions – for both performers and the public- into otherworldly thinking, feeling and relating.

Ritó Natálio

Artist and researcher. Non-binary lesbian. Their practice spaces combine writing and performance, whether in creation, teaching, research, or the organization of public programs. They hold a PhD in Artistic Studies and Anthropology, with research on the relationship between language and geology, and the performative effects of the debate on the Anthropocene in humanity–nature perceptions. From this research emerged a series of lecture-performances presented internationally in artistic venues and academic contexts: “Antropocenas” (2017) with João dos Santos Martins, “Geofagia” (2018), “Fóssil” (2020) and “Spillovers” (2023), a fabulated translation around “Lesbian Peoples: Material for a Dictionary” (1976), an iconic reference of lesbian feminism by Monique Wittig and Sande Zeig. Holding a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology (PUC-São Paulo) and a BA in Choreographic Arts (University of Paris VIII), they have published academic articles, artists’ texts, and edited independent publications related to their research. Since 2020, Ritó has coordinated Terra Batida, a network of people, practices, and knowledge in contestation with forms of ecological violence and politics of abandonment. They are an associate artist of Associação Parasita, a structure funded by the Portuguese Republic – Ministry of Culture/Directorate-General for the Arts between 2023 and 2026.

Sara Manubens

My name is Sara and I work in the fields of performing arts and mediation. I research transformism and its performance from a choreographic, experimental, and critical perspective. My works take on different formats, such as performances, laboratories, site-specifics, or texts. I work through humor, the plasticity of the body and the voice, emotional states, and the friction between major arts and minor arts.

Tau Luna Tau Luna (Medellín, 1989) is a visual artist, researcher, cultural manager, and curator. Their practice focuses on human migration linked to colonial violence, as well as on listening and shared memory with more-than-human migrant beings. They explore ancestral, scientific, and intuitive technologies to investigate soil, stones, and the memory of what seems inert. They are part of several collectives dedicated to management, mediation, and research, and in addition to their artistic inquiry, they develop gathering spaces and practical tools for those beginning their migratory journey in Barcelona from the Global South. They are a resident artist at La Escocesa and, since 2020, have been part of the Selvagem study cycle coordinated by Ailton Krenak, adapting content between Portuguese and Spanish. Their work is part of the collections of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Santiago de Chile and Espacio El Dorado in Bogotá.
Thiago GranatoGranato is a Dance Artist from Brazil based in Berlin (DE). His works are the results of processes that insist on promoting experiences of political transformation through aesthetic innovation. He completed his Master degree at Uniarts Stockholm in the program NPP – New Performative Practices (2021), directed by Chrysa Parkinson. Took part of the Ex.e.r.ce 8 Program at CCN Montpellier (2008), coordinated by Xavier Le Roy. With Catarina Saraiva he co-curated the International Festival and Laboratory Linha de Fuga in Coimbra (2022). In 2023 was one of the facilitators of The Listening Academy Berlin, in collaboration with Brandon LaBelle.
Veza Fernández

Veza Fernández is a dance, voice, and performance artist based in Vienna. Her work addresses the poetics and politics of vocal expression as a site of relation, imagination, and transformation. She intertwines practices of singing, writing, dance, and oral expression as embodied forms of study, experimentation, and performance. Her pieces overflow with sensitivity and intensity, polyphonically summoning a constellation of voices and presences that long to move, to move others, and to be moved. Her training spans philology, pedagogy, theater, music, and contemporary dance—fields that, in one way or another, influence her artistic research and her approaches to artistic creation and presentation. Her work is deeply rooted in the local scene, infiltrating from the underground into major dance and theater institutions. She holds a Master’s in Choreography from the DAS Graduate School (Academy of Theatre and Dance, Amsterdam). Her work has been presented, among other places, at brut Wien, Tanzquartier Vienna, Sophiensaele Berlin, Gesnerallee Zürich, de Singel Antwerp, and La Casa Encendida Madrid.

LA CALDERA AND LA PODEROSA

From La Caldera and La Poderosa we consider that the vitality and capacity for renewal, maturity and depth of the creative ecosystem depend on the exchange of information and experiences among its agents. Spaces of crossing, with the possible collisions and symbioses that arise from them, are the indispensable nourishment for the emergence of new forms and artistic languages: to encourage, cultivate and reforest fields of experimentation, of learning, of encounter and of de-formation. To enliven ways of camping, of acting with responsibility and autonomy from necessity, restlessness and urgency in the very heart of the art system, in connection with the tensions of the world and in the artistic task of questioning and remaining sensitively within the question.

This has been the starting point to collaboratively approach the conceptualization and design of an advanced training program in research and creation in dance and performing arts that, in 2025, opens a call with a view to its first edition in 2026: a permanent prototype of a program for the transmission of knowledge that places research, creation, critical attention and the articulation of creative and imaginative communities at its center, in friction with artistic practices from the individual to the collective and vice versa.

Thus, we conceive a program that resists the trend of turning artists into instruments of content production, so as not to strip art of the micropolitical power of creation. And which, in contrast, proposes situations, relationships and spaces together with other artists, thinkers and audiences, deep processes of experimentation in contact with life and its tensions. In Barcelona’s cultural landscape, La Caldera and La Poderosa stand out as references committed to the development of choreographic practices that place the body at the center, sharing policies of care, transmission and research.

La Caldera, as a Creation Factory of Barcelona, is a meeting place for artists where research, creation and pedagogy coexist. Its critical and sensitive approach has, over the course of 30 years, given rise to fertile ecosystems for emerging, referential and dissident artists, consolidating itself as a choreographic center with a European projection.

La Poderosa, an independent project self-managed by women artists, is a space of experimentation, resistance and transformation. For more than two decades it has defended singular languages distant from commercial logics, betting on dialogue, empathy and listening as working methodologies.

Both institutions, with different histories and trajectories, come together through affection and a shared vision to co-imagine and co-design singular proposals in dialogue with their communities, expanding the limits of creation and of artistic accompaniment.

ACCESSIBILITY

La Caldera and La Poderosa present themselves as spaces and projects accessible from a non-ableist standpoint, committing their own structures and proposing spatial, temporal and symbolic conditions to guarantee the participation of everyone.

In the same way, and through operations of communication, design, production and accompaniment, La Caldera and La Poderosa propose for c a m p a r campo specific attentions to conditions that enable spaces of care and safety for elderly people, people in parenting and caregiving relationships, and/or those belonging to invisibilized groups.

The working languages of the program will be Spanish, Catalan and English.
